Hyperautomation & RPA (Robotic Process Automation)
The term hyperautomation was first coined by Gartner in 2019. Since then, it has become more prominent, with the market projected to escalate by 2026. According to Gartner, nearly a third of enterprises will implement hyperautomation by that year. As Tyler Shepard wrote for USA Today, “Hyperautomation, coupled with self-learning systems, is rapidly becoming a cornerstone of operational transformation.”
Defining Hyperautomation
With hyperautomation’s rise in operations, it’s important to understand what it is as well as what sets it apart from the general automation boom. As Par Chadha explained in a Fast Company article, “By definition, hyperautomation supersedes the automation of individual tasks.” Instead, hyperautomation combines multiple technologies to benefit overall business and corporate strategies.
Aside from AI and ML, the other main technology that hyperautomation integrates is RPA, robotic process automation. With hyperautomation, RPA are enhanced to better support wider networks, including IT systems.
Benefits of Hyperautomation
As mentioned above, hyperautomation improves the abilities of RPA and overall business function. The reason hyperautomation is so impactful for business function at large is because it pulls the best aspects of each of the technologies it combines. By pulling together the decision-making boost AI provides with the task completion RPA offers, an enterprise is able to work more efficiently. In turn, it is better positioned to handle opportunities to scale, added pressures, and more.
